What is the movie sayng about poetry? Support your comments.
Mr. Keating explains poetry is not something that you read out of a textbook or something that is told to you. Poetry is what you make it. There is no way to "measure" how great poetry is. There is no way to tell how you will write poetry until you do. By ripping out all the introductory notes in the poetry book he makes everyone learn for themselves. As Keating and his students walk through the courtyard he makes them realize that the need their own pace in poetry their own speed at which the wish to go. Poetry is what you make it and there is no limit to what you can do with it. Poetry accordin to Mr. Keating "is what we are here for."
What do you think of poetry? How is it similar and different than the movie's view of poetry?
Poetry is like an outflow of emotions. Poetry is an escape. Like Keating said there is no real way to "measure" how great it is. It is through your point of view that determines how great it is. Poetry to me is words that have been given life. The words in poetry are almost alive as everyone of them leaps out as you grasp its meaning. It is quite safe to say that poetry is written by people that are not necessarily smart. Poetry proves that ordinary people can achieve and perform great things. Who knows? The next great poet could be you.
